When preparing an oriental rug for shipping, one should take care to ensure that the rug is wrapped properly so that it can arrive safely without sustaining any damage. Items that are shipped back in an inadequate can result in damage to the rug, or cause the rug to become dirty while in transit.
Here are some instructions on how to prepare the rug for shipping. There are also a few short videos at the end of this page demonstrating this process. The rug should be folded either in half or in thirds. Then, it can be rolled. Once it is rolled up, tie two strings around each end of the rug so that it does not open up while in transit. Next, place the rug inside two layers of heavy duty contractor bags and tape it securely.
