Stunning and beautiful rugs, as described.
This antique Persian Sarouk rug, measuring 3'5" x 4'3", dates back to the 1920s and features a richly saturated red field adorned with elegant sprays of floral motifs and symmetrical bouquets. The classic medallion-free layout and well-balanced design create a sense of calm refinement, making it a versatile accent piece. Framed by a midnight navy border with intricate rosettes and leafy vines, the composition showcases the finesse of Sarouk weaving at its peak. The colors remain beautifully preserved, and the crisp drawing adds to its timeless charm—a compact piece of Persian history that instantly elevates any room.
Sarouk rugs hail from the Arak region in central Persia and rose to prominence in the early 20th century for their sturdy construction and elegant floral patterns. Typically woven with a dense wool pile and featuring deep red or rose fields contrasted by navy borders, Sarouk rugs became especially popular in Western markets. They are known for their durability, making them ideal for frequent use while retaining their luxurious feel. Antique Sarouks, particularly those woven before the mid-20th century, are celebrated for their fine craftsmanship and enduring beauty.
