The Garden of Eden collection is Karastan's celebration of flowers. Its designs, numbered in the 509 series, range from European-style Savonnerie florals to trellis patterns and Persian garden panels. They have a lighter, more decorative character than the classic 700 Series, and their unusual colorways, such as green and black grounds, set them apart from the red and ivory of most Karastans. The collection is now discontinued.

Green Savonnerie, 509/1733
The Savonnerie was the royal carpet manufactory of France, founded in the 17th century, whose pile carpets are famous for naturalistic flowers, scrolling acanthus leaves and classical ornament. Karastan's Green Savonnerie adapts that European floral style on a green ground, a striking and uncommon color for a Karastan. See Aubusson Rugs for the related French flatwoven tradition.
Ebony Trellis, 509/1270
The Ebony Trellis sets a floral trellis design on a black ground. The dark field makes the flowers stand out vividly, and the design suits both traditional and more contemporary rooms. It is the most often seen design of the collection.
Garden Panel
The Garden Panel design divides the field into compartments, each holding plants and flowers, in the manner of the Persian garden carpet, which pictures a walled garden laid out in beds. See Garden, Panel and Tree of Life Designs.
Other designs
The 509 series included other floral designs, such as Wildflowers. Look for the 509 number on the label to identify a Garden of Eden rug. See Karastan Pattern Numbers Explained.
